Stall Based Decks: Konami's recent suggestion?

Recently, we've gotten Zero Gardna, and the upcoming Battle Fader.

Most people dont really think much about it, as cards like this dont usually make a splash unless theyre released all/lots at once(see: Lightsworn)

Is Konami slowly supporting stall decks?

Will these cards make final countdown a valid strategy in your opinion?

  1. its a start but stall decks are still a long way off - more or less due to the speed and ferocity of this meta - so whether it be stall or even burn - decks like these need a lot more support before they become top tier decks or even regional level playable decks.

  2. I think in the long run it might become valid. Maybe Konami realized their mistakes in overpowered cards, Dark Armed Dragon is a prime example. Being able to target both back and front rows is just insane, I believe. Maybe they'll slowly release cards that protect back/front rows due to single target effects or something. This'll encourage people to find other card(s) to use, instead of splashing Dark Armed Dragon into any deck with 3+ Dark types.

  3. Would love it if Stall/Defense decks could make a comeback with new support from Konami. Would be nice to have the LLAB back to 2 to help out.

The game does need a balancing act between Defense and Offense as right now it is ALL Offense and barely any Defend Decks viable to compete.

  4. Look at the latest episode of 5D's.

They introduce a Lock Deck (aka Stall Deck).

So i guess Konami is introducing to slow down the pace of the game as most deck is flood field or beatdown (aggro)

  6. Well, even though it seems suggested that Konami is slowly starting to support stall, you have to admit that support for all type of archetypes come at a slow rate, such as Blackwings, Lightsworn, and Gladiator Beasts.

We all know how one card can turn an entire archetype top tier. (Gyzaurus, Honest, etc.)

To answer your other question, it would seem viable, depending on how fast Final Countdown is played, IMO.

  7. I can only imagine Yusei topping a Heavy Storm versus that android.
