Thinking in advantage.

There are many forms of card advantage in the game of yugioh. Having any will, supposedly, help you. That is, if you think in advantage.

There is hand advantage. More cards in your hand.
EG: Pot of Greed

There is Feild advantage. More cards on your feild
EG: Gorz(Token)

Life advantage: More life than the enemy.
EG: Des Koala, hidden Machine gun.

Then theres information advantage. More information about the enemy's deck.
EG: CCV, DDV, EEV.

Tempo Advantage. Where your faster than the enemy. Most applicable in early game.
EG: Kick Back, CED.

Graveyard Advantage. Where you have a better graveyard status than the enemy.
EG: Foolish for Mezuki, PSZ, Wulf, Malicious

Temporary Advantage: Like it says, temporary advantage.
EG: Reckless Greed

Summoning Advantage: One of my favorites. Summoning more in one turn the the opponent.
EG: Monster reborn, but also Ultimate offering.

Attack number advantage: The number of attacks in one turn.
EG: Assault Armor

Mental Advantage: Having a feeling of equality over opponent. Not applicable if you are not mental.
EG: Yu-Jyou Friendship.

Confidence Advantage: Thinking, no... KNOWING your going to beat the opponent. More commonly known as "Arrogant Bastard Advantage"
EG: Using BF deck, Netdecking.

And that concludes our talk on various forms of advantage. I think most of us already know all of them.

Just Tune: Rau Custom

As you may/may not recall, I recently created a Tuner beatdown deck, based around Hyper Syncron and Road Syncron. I actually made it, as you see above.
You may have noticed that it isnt quite 100% the decklist I put up. That is because of both the meta in my area, and costs. Mainly costs. Mind Controls and Solemns are kinda expensive in OCG standards. That and the store I went to was sold out of Genex Neutrons.

So, as you can see, I have changed the decklist to fit my own tastes. If you actually play me, this is what I'm running.

What I did was take out the aggro element and replace it with some more "combat trick", in the form of Enemy controller, and signature Cloak and Dagger just for the heck of it.

Just Tune: Cutting Costs

Hey. Most of you have seen Just Tune recently. If you haven't, scroll down. Its a Tuner based beat down type deck.

However, as you may have noticed, there are a few pricey cards floating around in that deck list. Namely: Genex Neutron, Honest, AOJ Cyclone Creator, and Mind Control.
The most expensive, is, of course, Mind Control.

Now, most players aren't quite so ready to shell out the cash for 2 mind controls, and those LE cards.
So here's a list of changes to cut some costs for the deck, while taking as little away from the deck as possible. These changes are recommended for while you work towards the completion of the deck.
-1 Mind Control
+1 Transmigration Prophecy
-1 Mind Control
+1 Giant Turnade
-1 Genex Neutron
+1 Jade Knight
-1 AOJ Cyclone Creator
-1 Genex Neutron
+2 X-Saber Airbellum

Genex Neutron is one of the best tutors for the deck, so taking it out is definitely hard. When possible, try to keep it in.

JUST TUNE

Most decks use tuners. In fact, its almost impossioble to build a competetive deck completely without tuners. Syncro monsters are just too good to pass up.
LS have Zombie carrier. GB have X saber airbellen.
But how many tuners DO most decks use? Usually not so many.

So thats where this deck comes in.
This deck is a beatdown deck, using TUNERS as your main form of fighting.

JUST TUNE
Total/40

Monsters: 22
Non Tuners: 10
1 Gorz, Emissary of Darkness
1 Cyber Dragon
3 Honest
3 Genex Neutron
2 Jade Knight

Tuners: 12
3 Hyper Syncron
3 Road Syncron
1 AOJ Cyclone Creator
3 Psychic Commander
2 BF - Gale of the Hurricane

Magic: 16
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Limiter Removal
1 Emergency Teleport
1 Brain Control
1 Scapegoat
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Overload Fusion
1 United We Stand
1 Pot of Avarice
2 Mind Control
3 Battle Tuned

Trap: 2
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute

Extra: 15
1 Mist Wurm
1 Road Warrior
2 Gigantic Fighter
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Red Demons Dragon
1 Mental Sphere Demon
2 Black Rose Dragon
1 BF - Armored Wing
1 Goyou Gaurdian
1 Gaia, Force of the Earth
1 AOJ Catastor
1 Magical Android
1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon

As you can see, the main focus of this deck is Light + Machine tuners: Hyper Syncron and Road Syncron. Using Honest to support this, as well as Jade Knight and Genex Neutron to tutor them.
For even more combat enhancement, Battle Tuned, a card often looked down on, can be used.
Fitting with the beatdown, Psychic commander is THE most combat capable tuner in the game right now. On top of that, its compatible with Emergency Teleport.
BF-Gale, with its insane ATK/DEF halving ability, is, without second thought, included.

Any comments are welcome.

Frozen Burn.

Hi all. Im having a great time in the UK, in case you were wondering. Tons of travel time. I have to say the train system is almost as good as Japan. As in: VERY GOOD

On the trains, Ive taken to making a new deck, and making it work. Ive built this new deck around another Core Chimail, just like Gauridan Monarch. This is the second deck in a series of Core Chimail Based decks, called Frozen burn, based around Core Chimail Ice.

Core Chimail Ice
4/Aqua/1900/1200
The controller of this card sends 1 "Core-Chimair's Steel Core" from their hand to the Graveyard or reveals a Continuous Spell Card from their hand during each of your End Phases. If the controller of this card does neither, this card is destroyed. You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to destroy 1 face-up monster that has been Special Summoned.

So the deck is as follows:

Frozen Burn
Total / 40

23
3 Frost and Flame Dragon
1 Mobius the Frost Monarch
1 Testhalos the Flame Monarch
1 Dragon Ice

3 Core Chimail Ice
3 Deep Sea Diiva
1 Needle Gillman
1 Treeborn Frog

3 Volcanic Rocket
3 Volcanic Counter
3 Volcanic Scattershot

12
2 Blaze Cannon
3 Wave Motion Cannon
1 Level Limit - Area B
1 Monster Reborn
1 Giant Turnade
1 Heavy Storm
1 MST
2 D.D.R. - Different Dimension Revival

5
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Magical Cylinder
1 Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai
1 Ceasefire

How does it work?

Simple. This deck is based around Monster Removal, Beatdown, while at the same time burn. Its the new generation of Beat-Burn.
Frost and Fire Dragon, Core Chimail Ice, and Blaze Cannon all provide strong Monster removal.

Burn comes from Volcanic Scattershot, Wave Motion Cannon, Volcanic Counter, Ceasefire, Kurenai, Volcanic Counter, Magic Cylinder, etc.

Playing tips:
DDR is primarily for Volcanic Rocket. RFP Volcanic Rocket with Frost and Fire Dragon
Use Volcanic Rocket to search out Blaze cannon, which will fuel Core Chimail Ice.
Level Limit Area B can allow you to switch to Lock-Burn quickly.
Summon Deep Sea Diiva and special summon a second one for two instant tuners.
Insane destruction ability allows for easy to make direct attacks. Combine them with Burn cards and the opponent will probally be downed quickly.

And thats all for today. Happy netdecking.
Does anyone have any requests for which Core Chimail the next Core Chimail deck to be based on?

Additional Comment:
It is possioble to replace 3 copies of Volcanic Scattershot with 3 Volcanic Shell, to increase both speed and long term advantage, as well as feeding Frost and Flame dragon(in both ways), and Core Chimail Ice.

Stardust / Buster Playmat(S) Lamination...

So I actually laminated some Stardust/ Buster playmats...

Seen Here in action...

Situation of game: Turn 2 of Guilty/Plant, VS Anti-Zero(Anti Meta + Absolute Zero), before Power tool searches out mark of rose.

As you can see, the lamination isnt perfect. Its a learning process.

At least I learnt two things from this experience:
- Irons are HOT

JK I knew that before.

- Ironing Boards are hard to put away if you dont know them
- Lamination film is a pain in the ass to align correctly.

I guess now would be a good time to say some trivia about Stardust Dragon / Buster

At my local store, they run a different banlist(non official tournament days). Here are the changes to regular banlist.
Banned: Stardust/Buster, Cloak and Dagger, Dice Pot
Semi'd: Kuriboh Summoning Flute(whoops whoes fault was that).
Stardust/Buster was not banned out of its power, but rather its rulings. The Judges got tired of people whining about it and Stardust Buster VS Cloak and Dagger, so they just banned them.

Stardust Dragon / Buster's shortened form is the same as the shortened form of Starbucks.
スタバ。
Strangely enough, its also the shortened form of Star Blast.

If you destroy this card as an equip spell(Relinquished, etc)(But then, how did it even activate without being /Buster'd?) , you CAN Revive Stardust.

Stardust Dragon / Buster Playmat + Others

Wow... Is that?

Yes! It is. Its a Stardust Dragon / Buster Paper play mat. It looks awesome. I might get this one laminated.
For now, it goes into the "Yugioh OCG Non-Card Promos" box

Starter Deck 2009 came out yesterday/today.
Good cards:
X Saber Airbellen
Scrap Iron Scarecrow.
That's about it. Road Warrior is really meh in my opinion. They should have included Rescue cat into this deck...

No, I havent opened it. A friend of mine wanted to start sometime last week, so I bought this so he can start.

I also got 6 packs of Anniversary pack... I opened 4.

Oh wow. 3 Shiba Warriors in 4 packs! Complete playset gets.
Also 3 Blue Eyes and 3 Red Eyes. Only 1 Jinzo was a good thing. I have a stack of 7/8 Gold Rare from Gold series.

For TCG Players, yes I can send you that BMG. Stardust Dragon /Buster "play mat" also.

UK Final plans + Deep Sea Syncro review

Okey. I now know I will be in LONDON from the 23rd to the 27th of March.

So can someone suggest a card store or a place with tournaments I can go to? Just comment or mail me or whatever

Also, Deep Sea Syncro review.
After playtesting, I have made a few tweaks. They appear in the actual post. I cut some Junk Syncron because its not good enough, but added some Burial from diff dimension for bolt hedgehogs. Theyre broken.

Also, its quite consistent. I see it maybe becoming tournament level with more development.

Serpents of the Sea

So, there was a request for a Sea-Serpent deck...

So Ive went ahead and made a post-RGBT Sea Serpent deck, focusing not on big sea serpents but more on the instant syncro ability of Deep Sea Diva and some other monsters. So it appears as below.
Oh, and it is, like Elysium, almost invincible to CCV.

Deep Sea Syncron
深海シンクロ

Monsters 19
3 Deep Sea Diva
2 Sea Archer
3 Needle Gillman
1 Treeborn Frog
3 Bolt Hedgehog
3 Lightsworn Hunter Ryko
2 Junk Syncron
1 Sangan
1 Plaguespreader Zombie

Spell 14
1 Lightning Vortex
3 Pot of Avarice
3 Salvage
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Card of Safe Return
2 Burial From a Different Dimension (Or use Royal Iron Wall)
1 Brain Control

Trap 7
3 Spiritual Water Art - Aoi
2 Raigeki Break
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute

Extra Deck: 15 (simply because this deck has pretty messed up Syncro summoing targets... try for something similar. No Gugnir, etc wont change much. Tweak to your own needs.)

2 Armory Arm

3 Divine Levia Dragon - Gishlnodon
1 AOJ Catastor
1 Mystical Android
1 Junk Warrior

1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Boundary
1 Goyou Gaurdian

2 Black Rose Dragon
1 Gugnir, Dragon of the Ice Boundary
1 Dark Dive Bomber

1 Stardust Dragon

So. Some playing tips:

Divine Levia Dragon - Gishilnodon
5/Water/SeaSerpent/SyncroEffect
1 Tuner + 1 non-Tuner Level 3 monster
When a face-up Level 3 or lower monster is sent to the Graveyard, this card's ATK becomes 3000 until the End Phase of this turn.

Generate tons of hand "advantage" with your Pot of Avarice and Salvage combos. Spirit Water Art - Aoi to boost your Gishildon to 3000 ATK while destroying the enemy's hand is fun.

Every turn, try to dish out a syncro(Junk Syncron, Deep Sea Diva, etc.) this assures your Gishilnodon at 3000 ATK for most of the game.

Treeborn Frog + Sea Archer. 2000 ATK level 3 Monster.

Level 7s come from Deep Sea Diva + Level 3 + Bolt Hedgehog. Or Junk Syncron + Revived Monster + Bolt Hedgehog. Instant feild nukes or Dark Dive Bombers.

Summon Deep Sea Diva. Effect bring out a 2nd Deep Sea Diva. Bolt HedgehogX3. Syncro Goyou and an Armory Arm. Equip and swing for big damage.

Topdeck Burial from D.D., S.Summon PSZ, Draw 1 with COSR. S.Summon 2 Bolt Hedgehogs, Draw 2 with COSR, Syncro for Goyou. Use Burial from DD, returning the 3 things. Topdeck 1 card and syncro Brionac. Bounce cards and normal summon Junk Syncron/Deep Sea Diva and somehow get your DDB. OTK.

Comments? Fixes?

So Apparently Core Chimair Gaurdian is a tin promo in the TCG...

The Yuusei DP tin has 2 sets of RGBT foils: One of which has Core Chimair Gaurdian.

That means that you can make this in the TCG already!

Red Demons Dragon / BUSTER

Red Demons Dragon / Buster:
Dark/Dragon/3500/2500/10*
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except with "BUSTER mode". If this card attacks, destroy all other monsters after damage calculation. When this card on the field is destroyed, you can Special Summon 1 "Red Demons Dragon" from your Graveyard.

So. I had a requst to make a deck centered around this guy. I am very well aware that Stardust Dragon/Buster is much stronger, etc. However, if you want a decklist for a Stardust/Buster deck, this wouldnt be where you would come for it. So, today I will be introducing not ONE but TWO Red Demons Dragon / Buster decks.

Just some notes: With the new banlist, I noticed just how hard it was easily syncro, so it was quite a challenge. Here are the results of my quest to build a deck not Using Red Demons Dragon / Buster, but to FOCUS ON IT and it alone.

Deck 1:
Red Demons Dragon / Buster
レモン/バス

Total/40

Monsters:23
3 Red Demons Dragon / BUSTER
1 Destiny Hero - Dasher
1 Cyber Dragon
2 Vampire Lord
3 Buster Beast
1 Mezuki
2 Dark Grepher
2 Junk Syncron
3 Necro Gardna
2 Krebons
1 Plaugespreader Zombie
2 Mind Master

Spell:10
2 Allure of Darkness
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Emergency Teleport
1 Brain Control
2 Mind Control
1 Reinforcement of the Army
1 Mystical Space Typhoon

Trap:7
2 Buster Mode
2 Ultimate Offering
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Crush Card Virus
1 Mirror Force

This deck focuses much more on Syncroing, with its large amount of tuners.
Mind Control is there for that.

Summon Junk Syncron, revive Mind Master, Syncro twice(3+4=7+1=8) for Red Demons Archfeind.
Dark Grepher can help with that Red Demons Buster in your hand. And Syncro Fodder.
Vampire Lord will revive itself when it gets destroyed by Red Demons Dragon / Buster.

Deck 2:
Red Demons Dragon / Buster - SummoPrei Ver.
レモン/バス -サモプリver.

Total/42

Monsters: 27
3 Red Demons Dragon / BUSTER
2 Sacred Pheonix of Nephtys
1 Gorz, Emmisary of the Underworld
1 Cyber Dragon
3 Buster Beast
2 Mystic Tomato
2 Summon Preist
3 Rose, Warrior of Revenge, OR Frembel Magical(TCG or OCG.)
1 Sangan
3 Krebons
3 Hand of Nephtys
1 Treeborn Frog

Spell:12
2 Allure of Darkness
3 Pot of Avarice
1 Emergency Teleport
2 Cold Wave
1 Brain Control
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Swords of Revealing Light

Trap:3
2 BUSTER Mode
1 Mirror Force(Or, for the lulz, Crimison Hell Flare. Even its art looks similar.)

This deck, in contrast, focuses much more on the lockdown and combo with Red Demons Archfeind and Sacred Phonics of Nephtys, clearing the feild of everything, save a 3500 Monster beatstick, every turn.
Additionally, this deck consists of primarily Dark and Fire monsters, kinda sorta with the image of Red Demons Dragon...
The primary Syncro Summon methods are:
Summon Summon Preist, pitch a spell, summon Frembel Magical / Rose, Warrior of Revenge, mix the Fire and Dark, and summon Red Demon's Archfeind.
Mystic Tomato recruits Sangan and Summon Preist.

Well, that concludes our Red Demons Dragon / Buster deck(s). Feel free to comment and ask about combos in these decks.

Going to the UK.

So heres the story: Im going to be going to the UK for college visits, to the places that have accepted me already, on March 15-30.

I was wondering if any of the UK readers can point me to a few card stores/places I can play random people, in case I have some extra time to waste. Just comment with name of place + location.

New deck in the making: Red Daemons Dragon/ buster

Ive decided on making the Red Daemons Dragon/Buster deck. That doesnt mean Ive forgotten everyone elses suggestions here. Ill work on this one first I guess.

Which is a bit of a challenge because most easy-syncroing has kinda gone down the drain with Undead Syncro biting the dust(no pun indended)

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Ancient Forest.

Yeah, I know that this card isnt out yet, but its a fun card.

Ancient Forest
Field Magics
When this card is activated, all defence positions are turned to ATK position. Flip Effects do not happen at this time. If a monster attacks, it is destroyed at the end of the battle phase.

This works rather well with GBs, since you can choose to tag things out before theyre killed by Ancient Forest.

Too bad it destroys at the END of battle phase. Green baboon would have loved this card if it were not so.

Some questions:

If this card is activated during the battle phase(Demise of the Land), after some monsters have attacked already, are the monsters that have attacked already destroyed at the end of the battle phase?

Comments:
I might change Elysium to include this instead of Dark city, and replace the Diamond Guys with Transmigration Prophecy and a Cyberdark Horn/Keel/Edge
